Perceptive
Summer 2024 Issue
As artists, we strive to be perceptive in a way no one else can. We
try to save this moment, when the light boldens a silhouette just right;
we weave a pattern of words to capture the exact feeling of realizing
the tie you severed left space to fasten another; we pour our heart
into a bucket of paint so the pain becomes something we can see. To
be a good artist is to preserve moments we perceive to be important,
or unique. To be a great artist is to understand why we find that
preservation important. Why do we choose to capture the moments
we do? What pulls us towards them?
